Congratulations!!!!
Sounds like you've been very busy and I look forward to your next post.
have avery similar business background as you, with the exception of the fact that took a slightly different road to get to the point that we are both at. To cut to the chase, I also have aproduct that I would like to sell on-line, and you hit the "head on the nail" when you said it is difficult to filter the good from the "BS" or crap or all of those "get rich quick schemes" that make us all wonder why we can't be the one on those money factory infomercials that make it all look sooooooo easy, and the thought that "if it's as easy as those unbelieveably annoying guys make it sem on their infomercials, then why isn't EVERYONE doing it?" Well, that's where I feel your idea of this Blog comes into play and reveals its truly intrinsic value to all of us (and you) that ask the questions i have stated above. I would love to take this ride with you. Feel free to email me, and we can get the wheels turning together perhaps. I have investigated this dream and have found the ONE thing/secret (to which I have not found the answer to...YET!!!) That secret, or ONE factor that determines whether you (intended generically) will make millions, or end up where you are now with your coffee shop, which personally, I don't think you should cut loose just yet, however, I would like to hear more details about before I stand by that statement. As you probably know, most people give up on their dream/business of self-employment just before it turns around and becomes profitable. But anyway, back to that ONE issue that will either make the On-line business succeed of fail is.............
the answer to "HOW TO GET THE TRAFFIC TO MY WEB SITE?" That's it!!! That's all it takes. The solution is where you mentioned being able to tell the real from the bogus "kits" or stategies that acomplish driving all of that traffic to your site. Software that puts your site at the "top of the biggest" search engines, consultants that promise to "do it all for you", and finding the right keywords to embed in your site to get keyword searches by consumers to get them to your site as well. So...that leaves us or brings us back to where you are in your (and my) quest to succeed on-line. The answer...TIME, PERSEVERENCE, and some, NOT TOO MUCH, $$/MONEY/$$. And i do mean..NOT A LOT!!!! Get in touch with me...I think we should talk. I have time (resigned as well, just like you did), I had a web site business in the early 90's, which I gave up on, again...TOO SOON. And have learned a TREMENDOUS amount from my failure or poor decision, and had NO experience in before i did it, just dove in without a plan. that's another thing... I now try to never do ANYTHYING without a plan. I LOVE your blog, and as I am writing this , i am actually getting a bit excited at the thought of your approach to this. Attacking it more as an experiment, than jumping into a business, as I think we can both agree on based on your comments about your coffee shop, and mine on my prior business experience. Once we have conversed via email a bit, and if we both feel comfortable with the idea, perhaps we can begin to talk business by phone, and report on our findings etc. to each other as we proceed and just see what happens.
I have to tell you, I for one am sick of being a "talker" and would like to be a "doer". So...get back to me when you can. My email address is: froydienslip@comcast.net
Let me know what you think. Nothing to lose as i see it at this point, and i assure you...I AM NOT SELLING ANYTHING!!!!! Just a guy looking for the same answers as you are. Hope to hear from you soon!
